  1. Pick the set

    • Your final, ordered selection
    • Notes on where and when each was taken

  2. Freewrite the context

    10 minutes

    What were you looking for? What surprised you? What's not in the frame?

  3. Draft the captions

    20 minutes

    One or two sentences each. Add what the image can't show, rather than describing it.

  4. Write the story

    30 minutes

    A few paragraphs that tie the set together.

  5. Proofread

    • Names, places and dates checked
    • Read it aloud alongside the photos
