Sample Flip Challenge

by NeonWalrus Creative Exploration

Turn an unfamiliar sample into something new, with a strict limit of 4 tracks. About 1 hour. Constraints force creative decisions.

Sound Design Playground

by NeonWalrus Creative Exploration

An hour of pure play to build a library of sounds that are yours. No songs allowed.

A structured mixing session that goes from balance to polish, about 1¾ hours. Mix at a low to moderate volume. Loud mixes sound better than they are.

Beat in an Hour

by NeonWalrus Deep Drafting

Go from an empty project to an arranged rough beat in about 75 minutes. No mixing allowed: rough levels only. Finishing a sketch beats perfecting a loop.

Breathing out for twice as long as you breathe in, to calm down quickly, for 12 rounds. If 8 seconds feels like a struggle, try in for 3 and out for 6.

Skull-shining breath: short, sharp exhales to energise you, for 3 rounds. Sit tall on an empty stomach. Stop if you feel dizzy, and skip it if you're pregnant or have high blood pressure.

The physiological sigh, repeated: two inhales and one long exhale, for 20 rounds, about 3 minutes. A single sigh is the fastest way to take the edge off in a stressful moment. A few minutes of them works even better.

Nadi shodhana, a balancing yogic breath, for 8 rounds. Rest your right thumb by your right nostril and your ring finger by your left, closing one side at a time. Skip this if your nose is blocked.

Slow, even breathing at about six breaths a minute, which helps settle the nervous system, for 30 rounds: 5 minutes. Breathe through your nose, softly, into your belly. No holds and no strain.
